Actually, that's a federal law that applies in every state. Note, too, that the exemption is for House Sparrows, an introduced species from Europe, not any of our native species of sparrows. Those are not legal, so be sure to ID that sparrow before shooting. Also not protected is the Rock Dove, also known as the Barn Pigeon or just Pigeon. This is another introduced species from Europe and is the common pigeon found in cities and farms.Mistered wrote:Be careful with this - last time I checked all birds in Oregon are protected EXCEPT Sparrows and Starlings - but it could have changed since then.mostly Robin and some kind of black bird. Sometimes Jays.
Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry

I have dispatched pigeons in the barn with CCI Shot shells using my single six Ruger. Works good and no holes in the barn.

Was back in the 70's working for my granddad. No such rules then. Today, "Native Migratory Birds are protected". Windows on the house now do most of the damage.

Re: CCI Shot shells
I have not tried these, but the shotshell ammo, particularly for handguns, piqued my interest. So off again and did some web searches. I found two shooting demos and one interesting article. The best part was the variety of guns used. Under each link I've listed the firearms, if anyone interested. Notice that a .357 magnum Henry Big Boy was used, too.

Great video PT7. Plinkster really shows it well in my mind. Basically, if I need to be 5-10’ away, I’ll just hit a grouse with a stick! Oh well, at least my SGC is small enough to not really notice in my pack...

Re: CCI Shot shells
It looks like they are available in #9 shot, and in #4 shot, as well.

Re: CCI Shot shells
This is pretty strange as I was just talking to a friend of mine about Shot Shells and I was just thinking about posting a question here on the forums about it.
Is it OK to use them in our Henry Rifles? I've got an H001.
Or should I use them in my 22 Revolver only?
This would be for some small Snakes.
