Anyone ever tried these? I bet they wouldn’t cycle very well, or at all, but it would be great to turn your deer gun into a grouse gun in an instant. You could load them one shell at a time directly into the chamber.

many years ago I tried them in GP100 revolvers with 6" barrels, never in a Henry .... I even went so far as to purchase components to load some of my own .... the pattern expanded so wide, so quickly that they had a very short range .... by very short, only a few feet .... worked OK on mice/rats and small snakes at point blank range .... only aggravated them at more than a few feet .... years ago some of them came apart (they could easily be better today) from recoil prior to being fired .... with some the end of the casing blew out and remaining side walls stuck in the casing .... at such times it jammed the cylinder by not allowing it to turn

Used the .22 CCI shot shell on birds in the cherry trees. No complaints, got the job done.

What kind of birds were you shooting?

The shot size in those particular loads is #4,so no problem killing a grouse. Only going to be about 15 or 20 on the shot count, though, so you'll need to get very close. I think that load would be best used for up close pest control with harder to kill kind of varmints. Sure beats the usual #9 shot loads for something with a tough hide.

I’ve used the .22 shot shells successfully on grouse before. Thought these might be ok. It wouldn’t be a common thing to use, but it’s a lot easier to carry a few extra shells over a second rifle!

Ive used and loaded the 45 colt and 44 mag version. Ive killed blue grouse while elk hunting in Colorado. Like others have mention they are short range shells. Probably would have had better luck using a 22.

Be careful with this - last time I checked all birds in Oregon are protected EXCEPT Sparrows and Starlings - but it could have changed since then.
