Questions on cast bullets
Re: Questions on cast bullets
I used to shoot a Microgroove Marlin 45-70 using home cast Lee 405 gun hollow base, the reason I used home cast was factory cast were too small in diameter for the rifling. I simply cast but did not size then rolled the bullets in Lee liquid Alix and allowed them to dry. The bullets were cast from lead mixed with linotype and tested at around BN 15, I never had any accuracy or leading problems. I admit that I was only pushing about 1500 FPS but an accurate 405 gun lead semi wadcutter travelling at over 1000 FPS packs quit a punch
