I had a friend recently give me 10 rounds of very old 45'70 ammo.
Headstamped US C CO 45-70. odd domed looking primers. My research tells me they could be from late 1800s to the 1950s. Any idea on value or collect ability of this stuff?
If i could figure out how to post photos here, i will put some up

Re: Old 45 70 ammo
Stets, I don't know about the value or collector aspect, bu I would hang on to it. Can't be much around.

I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

Re: Old 45 70 ammo
Are the bullet tips flat, or rounded? The shape would indicate if they were intended for lever action rifles or single shots. I suspect that cartridges made for trapdoor Springfields were discontinued a long time ago.

They are very rounded, like 45acp fmj would be.

Re: Old 45 70 ammo
From what I've read about it (I think in Rifle Magazine), those cartridges seem to be the type made for use in single shot rifles, then. That would make 'em old, I bet. There sure could be interest by collectors.
