I bought Federal primers back in March when CCI were not available. Some one posted on Ruger Forum that they are "softer" than the " harder" CCI brand. I have not had a problem at all with the Federal, I only use small pistol primers.RanchRoper wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 5:36 pmThe primers I bought today are Federal. Never used them before. Always use Winchester ones. The other ones they had were CCI.

Well hopefully they all go bang.
The store also had quite a bit of powder including Unique. Might just check that out too. I have lots of Universal powder.

Interesting new discovery on Federal primers.JVogler wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 9:44 pmI bought Federal primers back in March when CCI were not available. I just bought a new Lee Auto-Prime (hand held priming tool) and this is the 3rd generation of this tool. In the instructions Lee noted not to use it with Federal primers as there have been some detonations doing so. I have owned both of the earlier generations of the Auto-Prime and have loaded lots and lots of Federal primers in them without ever having a problem. Not sure if this caution is due to the new design of the tool or the primers??? Anyway, unless you’re loading for a semi-auto rifle I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

Re: Ammo supply good in your ‘hood?
Nothing available in my neck of the woods.
No centerfire or rimfire ammo except .17
No powder, primers, or brass
No revolvers (except .22 with fixed sights)
No rifles
A few shotguns
A few semi auto compact pistols
VERY, VERY DRY AROUND HERE!

Re: Ammo supply good in your ‘hood?
I just don't get it. Seems like practically everywhere is starving for guns and ammo except MS. Or at least up in my part of MS. Maybe it's because we only have about 3 million people (including kids) in the whole state and most folks already have 1 or more guns and don't see any pressing need to buy more. We do have some minor shortages of some ammo, but there's no shortage of firearms (of any kind) for sale in local gun and pawn shops.
