I ordered the shims and the large loop, when installing I first used no shims and I found that was perfect. Saved the shims for a possible next project

I did about the same thing. Lever works fine w/o shims, but I ordered some.....just in case, plus, as you said, might come in handy for something else down the road.

I've swapped two, one on the BB 44, and the first was on the BBS 41,
have yet to need a shim.
Thinking about adding one to the H001.

My shims came today from Ranger Point. Decided to install them just to check the feel. They took the slop out for sure. I kinda like the feel. Might as well leave 'em in. BTW, installing wasn't exactly a walk in the park, but nothing major either.
The downside....everytime you remove the lever to clean, you'll have to go thru that process again. Just saying.......

Gun Grease my friend. A little dab of grease on the shims and they stay in place much better. Also, I use my gun cleaning pick to slide the shims into place then stick the end down through the holes to line everything up, then add the lever screw.

The grease will work. Solves a lot of issues where things don't want to stay put.
I used a Qtip shaft to line things up. Had them handy, so.....
Thanks

Regardless of large or small loop, here is some advice that's well worth taking. Whichever hand you use to operate the lever, before doing so REMOVE ALL RINGS FROM THAT HAND. It's very easy to scratch those levers while operating them wearing rings.
