357 X Model on Gunbroker. $1300 plus

Post by Hatchdog » Tue Jul 14, 2020 10:06 am

I’ve been looking around for an X Model in 357 and of course all online sellers I have looked at are out of stock. So just for fun I took a look on Gunbroker and stumbled on an auction that was closing in a few minutes. Of course by Gunbroker rules any bid within 10 minutes of the close extended the auction by another 10 minutes. I watched the auction for a little while and the price went from around $1100 to around $1300 in a short amount of time. I’ll take a look and come back with the final price.

Yes, I want an X Model 357 but not that bad. :o

For $1300, I can just about buy two BBS's locally.

Inflation. I bought a BBSC in fall of 2018 for $697 out the door. But I see the MSRP for the same rifle is now over $900.

I just looked up the MSRP on the X model and it’s $970.00. In another post a member suggested to me I try Henry directly and they might be able to ship an X to my LGS. I’ll be looking into that tomorrow. Last time I was in my LGS they had a couple of BBS in 357 and I am thinking I may buy one to scratch my itch for the time being. I can always sell the BBS when I get an X.

Funny thing, while the tactical aspect of the X is appealing mostly I want a pistol grip, not the straight grip.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

 Been there, done that with a Marlin. I’m finding as I get older I’m not very recoil resistant like when I was younger. In fact, I sold off my 44 and 41 magnum revolvers and now 357 is my most powerful handgun.

For some crazy reason, the pistol gripped levers just appeal to me.

Not crazy at all. I also like the pistol grip levers. I have a Uberti in 357 that has a pistol grip looking stock. Ill soon be 68 and the recoil has not bothered me yet. But then again I dont shoot the 45-70 with the full power loads when I do. I have a 41 in a lever but I dont mind shooting it at all.

I'm 72. Have the x in 357. With that rubber pad on stock the felt recoil is mild. If you shoot 38 spec. It is of course much less.
My wife has been shooting it with .38 spec. Has not even mentioned recoil. If it bothered her or even felt it she would say so.
I will have her try 357 when she feels like it. This is the first rifle she has ever fired. She has fired shotguns 20 gauge over 40 years ago.

The Model X 357 was nowhere to be fond here in NY. Almost everything thing is sold out or back order. I really wanted this one. Checked online but all gone but a few for sale on Gunprime.com. I did overpay at $1,050 but this gun is wanted and I wasn't sure if or when I would get another non auction chance. Henry has them listed at $970 msrp and online stores was between $750-$950. I am happy I did and love this gun. It's also a first production and that should add to it's value going forward.
