What caliber to get next?
Re: What caliber to get next?
Guess intended use would have helped. I'm mostly a collector but definitely hunting is a secondary.
I actually ended up getting the 45-70 today. I do reload and I got the rifle on a trade for a mini-14 that I never use.
Thanks for all the feedback.

Re: What caliber to get next?
I'd still get a 45-70 but in a beautiful Sharps rifle if I was more of a collector then a hunter. I usually see that one in my dreams at night.

Nice Henry Sully, thanks for the pic.
I'm a Marlin fan, then a Henry fan, but
there are some Winchesters, and a Rossi around here also.
I'm a lever gun fan, through and through.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Re: What caliber to get next?
I took the Henry for a spin this morning and decided to take my Marlin 30-30 along just to compare the experience. Definitely more of a thump in the 45-70, but I found it a lot smoother. A lot easier to get reset for a follow up shot with the Henry.

I vote for the 45LC then you have an excuse to get a Ruger Blackhawk in 45LC
