8 shot speed loader for the 44 Mag Carbine....

Post by fortyshooter » Sun Feb 23, 2020 2:13 pm

Well while not as slick looking as the .357 units...it's functional!
In order to use same 1/2 inch tube as for the .357 loader you have to open up the tube ID to .530 or 17/32 so the .44 case head will slide through.

Drilling 6 inches of tube in the lathe is easy but trying 13 inches doesn't work too well! So just made up the short end pieces and insert into
correct length of clear 5/8ths tubing I had.I use a piece at plugged in to be able to use same plastic plugs I had. Since they are somewhat flexible they might pack easier.

Interesting that Henry just quotes 7 as capacity. Maybe they figure a bullet that is a bit longer but still short enough to feed?

.
... or there might be a higher risk of this happening from overly compressing the mag tube spring...

Could be! My two Henry's have the tube bracket at the end of tube and the beefy bracket has the slot in it.
