X Model in 357 and 45-70
Looking at buying both of these models.
Anyone have a range report/quality report on these yet in the forums?
Thanks

I have only seen a .410 X shotgun in the flesh - I think it is a cool gun - everything else is backordered. Some are starting to appear on Gunbroker and a few online FFLs. You should visit this big X thread.

To each his/her own, I just can't wrap my head around a side gate on a Henry. Kinds like whipped cream on steak, LOL.

I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.

I saw one of the shotguns yesterday, in person.
Not quite as offensive as the pictures.
I also handled one of the 30-30 side gates yesterday,
still not all that crazy about all the extra craving on the stock.
But I could probably live with it.

Re: X Model in 357 and 45-70
I'm working on high resolution side gate decals to "cheaply" join the club!
I believe I can fully reload my 357 BB using my speed loader tubes quicker than using side gate.
However you can't beat the advantage of topping off a rifle while shooting if you need to.

Re: X Model in 357 and 45-70
I'm mostly about function.
For me, the whole point of side gate loading is the ability to top off without rendering the rifle unable to shoot for the least amount of time.
Having the ability to easily add only one or two rounds as needed can be useful.
I have 3 Marlins and love them.
I also have a Long Ranger in 556 that i really like but its not as reliable feeding rounds as i would like.
Hoping that the Henry have better quality control than the Marlin. (I know, not hard to do. LOL)
When I get my hands on one of them I will post my findings.

Well, just placed an order for the H012MX, the 357 from Kentucky Gun Co.
Never ordered from them.
Hope they are good guys.
