I also considered that, if hunting, I don't need anything flashing in the woods.
You could hunt with one of your non - flashy guns and keep the 'flash' to the range or non-serious hunting such as varmints.
I hear Ya Ed, however, my collection is limited due to finances, so I have to keep my priorities in the right place when making a gun purchase. Don't own a lot of options.

I wouldn't discount hunting with a brass rifle.

The 'flash' could be an issue but it think its overstated - considering all the other things I see 'hunters' doing that are much more likely to inhibit success than the possibility of a little 'flash'.

My Henry has a few character marks on it now, just from wear and tear, and packing it horseback in the bush. All good.
They're not really yours until you void the warrenty.

Totally disagree, Whenever I hunt, I am not stupid, wear appropriate clothing and anti scent preparedness. Don't need a shiny gun to defeat all other efforts!!!

One thing I do with my stock cover, is put a layer of plastic saran wrap over the brass butt plate to keep it off the leather and avoid turning the brass green. Works good.
