Post by Batch » Thu Dec 19, 2019 6:26 pm

Is there a Williams FP type peep sight for an H012MCC 357?

See my post on how I modified a Williams sight to work on my Henry.

Thanks for the reply and your previous post. I may try that. Has a skinner now but I like the Williams better.

but I like the Williams better.
So do I.
I have William's 94/36s on two Winchesters and one Marlin.
Hopefully you have the same hole pattern as my BBB.

The Williams 336 FP fits the Big Boy Steel mounting holes with a hang over of the hammer the BBB has the same screw hole arrangement but the receiver is wider.
I I modified a 336 FP to fit on my 357 Big Boy Brass but used it backward, inspired by MrEd' s idea for the WRGS sight.
Never noticed the difference while shooting matches with it.

One thing to understand about this reverse arrangement is you want to find a front sight that will allow for an average sight in distance of say 50 yards that allows the elevation ramp to be at about the halfway point.

Reason is when reversed and if you have to lower the ramp too far to lower POI the aperture will make contact with the sight base and not lower anymore.

This can be remedied by either reducing the diameter of the aperture OR by filing a half round groove in the base with a round file to allow it to clear - which is what I was going to do but did not have to.

I am sighted at 50 yards with my sight as you see it in the picture and my ramp is about one 'graduation above the halfway point. My front sight is .490 I believe.

ATTENTION OJAI !

Where is your ramp height with regard to your 'sight in' distance ?

Those are the sight setting in turns of the knob from the lowest setting.
I didn't have to change the front sight.
C 40 meters
P 50 meters
T 75 meter
R 100 meters
Using a 158gr FN Barry's plated.

As I remember every turn of the knob was 2.8 MOA, close to that.

Thanks for all the information. I really like the Williams after I used one on my H001TLB.
