Big Boy 357 Carbine Magazine Spring Stuck

Post by lovesleverguns » Sun Dec 15, 2019 2:59 pm

Hello. Today while shooting discovered that the spring is stuck, recessed, inside the tube. Any guidance to spring it back out? Thanks!

You might just squirt some WD-40 in there and slap it around some. :)

Then if it springs free after the above recommendation you need to disassemble it and clean it entirely and reassemble with only the lightest lube applied.
I recommend disassembly regardless as it is most likely full of factory left grease & debris inside - as mine was.

I punched the pin out and then pushed the follower back out. Had to literally pound the pin to get it out and back in.

Yep - ya gotta be careful with this part!

One good cleaning with light (to nearly no) lube and it should be good to go for a while.

You might also want to accomplish the chamfer on the mouth of the tube as I have previously posted on and you should be problem free.

Hello all. I did clean the tube very well but the follower continued to recess when I tried to load so called Henry to see if there may be something else I could try. I haven't had the gun that long, purchased sometime last year I believe, so they are just going to send me a new one. Nice! I actually shoot my Henry Steel .30-30 more but haven't experienced any issues with it.

Thanks again for all the feedback. Mike
