I just got my new Henry BBS in 357 Magnum. The manual expressly states that aluminum ammunition should not be used. I am wondering if anyone has used aluminum snap caps to cycle the rifle and whether or not the have caused any damage?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Aluminum snap caps will not cause any damage as they are inert.
I have not read it specifically but the reference to aluminum ammo is aluminum cased ammo.
A lot of gun manufacturers warn against the use of aluminum cased ammo but it is completely fine and safe to use in your Henry providing the ammo is clean and dry.
A lot of the problems with aluminum cased ammo have stemmed from its use in guns where the case is not fully supported in the chamber on firing (certain semi auto guns) and have resulted in excessive case expansion causing jams and FTE problems.
Heck I actually reload aluminum cases (one time
and mid range loads) for use in situations where I cannot stop to pick up brass after shooting.

Thank you very much for the informative post. I didn’t realize why aluminum cased ammo was verboten

Just a standard manufacturer warning.
Kind of like the one that states 'The use of handloaded ammunition will void your warranty' or similar drivel.

I use aluminum snap caps. They are not live ammo.
