Hello, and welcome to the forum! I'd recommend dropping down to the 150 gr Federal Fusion. Here's a range report from last year, filed after I sent my 308 LR back to Henry for a bit of rehab. I was only at 50 yds, but a ragged hole is a ragged hole. I experimented with a handful of brands, and the FFusion/150 was the most consistent.

If all you have tried is one brand of factory ammo in it I would try others like you are doing. I have had great luck with Barnes TTSX ammo. Its expensive but it shoots great. Might need to locate it online.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Also what position are you shooting from?
Sitting, standing, kneeling, prone or bench?
Also what is your reason for such a long duration between shots? If you are thinking heating that can be an issue with a lot of quick, repetitive shooting but if you are just shooting typical 'range fashion' it shouldn't be a problem
In fact that much time between shots can cause you to change your position and get out of sequence.

Are you bench resting, sand bags, etc. I would expect with a scope and rested, and, with the right ammo, you should be able to get MOA at least. But, if you are shooting offhand, that's a pretty powerful scope and I expect that movement is enhanced. Offhand, 3 inch groups isn't bad at all.!!

I'm new here... but I've had the same problem with my LR308. Sorry, I don't have any pictures of my targets, but I've tried the following with my gun:
1. Vortex scope - replaced it with Leuopold vx Freedom
Bullets shot:
1. Hornady Black - 168 grain
2. Hornady Precision Hunter 168 grain
3. Hornady American Whitetail - 150 grain
4. Reminton Core Lokt - 150 grain
5. Federal Fusion - 150 grain

I can't get any consistency out of my gun. The scope is secured (had a gunsmith mount it). I've shot from a lead sled & from sand bags & still cannot get any consistency from it. At 50 yards, it'll shoot 2 shots within 0.5" of each other... then the next shot will be 2-3 inches off in one direction, then the next will be 2-3 off in another direction. The only two words I can use to describe it are "erratic" & "inconsistent".... I've just put in a request to send it back to Henry for them to look at it... Hopefully they can find something wrong... Otherwise, It'll be a pretty gun that sits in the gun safe & never used.

first, welcome to our forum, happy to have you join us .... feel free read through ongoing conversations; as well as, to start others of your own .... based on the info you have given, I'd recommend you call Henry customer service .... have pictures of your targets and label them with the factory ammo and distance .... also show it locked into a lead sled .... I believe that you will find that they will be most helpful ....whatever you decide, be sure to keep us updated .... please take a look at our How Many ? thread (link below) and add you Henry rifle(s) to our community's total

Agree with Jim call Henry and let them hear abut it. It would be a shame to have it sit in the safe especially since its a nice gun and it needs to be shot.
