.327 Steel Carbine-Stock replacement

Post by Trooper Joe » Mon Aug 19, 2019 5:21 pm

I have two Henry steel carbines (.327 and .357). Would like to switch from the current stock with the recoil pad (not needed) to a stock with the Winchester style SRC carbine, curved butt plate.

Been thinking of ordering a Big Boy brass, style of stock and butt plate from a Henry .357 or .327 and refinish the butt plate.

Any thoughts?

and refinish the butt plate.
My only thought is what is your plan for refinishing the buttplate?
It is solid brass so it's not like you can remove the existing finish as it has none.
I know there are methods to color brass but I do not have any experience with them.

I would also check to see if the brass and steel receivers are configured exactly the same. It seems to me that they're not, if so the stocks would not be interchangeable.

Good point!
I know the steel receivers are a little narrower than the brass and the shape of the rear of it could be different enough to not allow fitting the BBB stock.

No help here, but I do love my Big Boy steel .327.
