If you are getting a Williams 336 sight it may hang over the hammer a bit. It dose on the brass models at least.
I don't know what your plans as far a shoot are. If your going to need a lot of target adjustments then an FP modle allows for adding target knobs at a later point.

Im wanting to take some of the slop out of the lever. I probably wont use the other shims, but they come as a set so.... There is really no problem as far as function goes. As a side note, i will be putting a williams reciever sight on the rifle. It uses the same hole spacing amd thread size that is on the Henry. I called Williams and they said to get the sight thats fits the Marlin 336.... of which i just happen to have a JM stamped one. I did some quick measuring., and sure enough, hole spacing is the same.

See Ed's post above (and pic). Seems he just flipped it around and no overhang! Who knew?

Ed's image is of Williams WGRS 336 receiver sight.
The Williams 336 im taking about is another model. You can flip around the 336 also, but you can't reverse the appiture as you can with the WGRS.
Williams FP/tk 336
Williams FP 336
Williams 5d 336
See Ed's post above (and pic). Seems he just flipped it around and no overhang! Who knew?d
BTW Ed blew some minds when he figured that whole thing out !

Got it, Ojai. I have zero knowledge of Williams lineup, so good catch. It's kind of like figuring out the right Lyman Globe.

Yeah, Ed should just open a gunsmithing operation.
