Mistered, I just read your posts you included above. Enlightening! Simple fix and thank you for that. I haven't had that issue in my two Henry's, but, if it happens, I'll know what to do. Again, Thanks. What a great forum!

It may be old news to you, but you might investigate Missouri Bullet Company's Hy-Tek coated lead projectiles. Have used them in my 45 Colt Carbine with great results.
Different weights to choose from, of course, but here's a good one:

I have no complaints using those coated Missouri bullets. 250gr RNFP coated also. Very good bullets.

I had a BB 45 Colt I sold to a buddy of mine. It loved Winchester lead ammo.

Re: My New Henry Big Boy 45 Colt
I also have one in .45 Colt, and I've been trying to work up a good load for deer hunting. So far, I've been trying the Speer 260gr JHP, as well as coated lead SWC and RNFP in the 250gr range. Although I've been testing at 100 yards instead of 50 yards, I have also found it to be very finicky about loads. So far, I have one load with the JHP that is acceptable, about 3" groups at 100. I have not found a good load with the coated lead bullets yet, but I have a batch ready to test. Someone suggested that I experiment with the OAL, so I loaded these rounds at 1.60" to see if that makes a difference. We'll see.

Did you check those sized at 1.600 oal to make sure that they would cycle in your gun. You might also try the Hornady xtp bullet for the colt along with some 2400 powder if you have some

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Al,
No problem with cycling the loads at 1.600. However, it didn't seem to make a difference, accuracy-wise. I've got some XTP's on order and will continue the search with them.
