What's Next?

Post by North Star » Tue Jul 23, 2019 11:12 pm

I have been very pleased with my BBB 357/38 Henry. I am looking down the road for the next Henry. Any imput on the next caliber 44 mag, 45 LC. And should I wait for the folks at Henry to get more caliber selections in their side gate models? Could use some opinions.

While you are waiting for more calibers in different models pick up a Small Game Carbine in 22LR there a blast to shoot and easy on the wallet.

bottom line, the only opinion that really matters is yours .. ;) .. when I've been in a position like this, I tend to focus on what do I want my next one to do .... if the answer to that question is clear, it sure reduces the number of options ....if its not clear, it often boils down to a question of want and not need .... when it comes to picking a Henry, my wants easily cover a pretty wide range .... after buying a BBS 44 Mag which quickly became one of my favorite rifles, I had no thought of buying another .... that changed instantly when I learned Henry was going to offer a CCH 45-70 .... I've always wanted an elephant gun .... yep, most definitely a want, not a need .... I bought one and even though I don't fire it often (as compared with the 44 Mag), it is a highly valued part of my collection

I agree that what you want from another gun would dictate whether you got another caliber, and what that caliber would be.

As to side gate, I would prefer not to have a side gate on mine. I will use the tube magazine anyway, and it would be just an additional complication of mechanisms.

.45 Colt BB steel w/20" barrel. Ultra easy to handload for and very easy to shoot. It's my favorite rifle to shoot. I also have a BB brass .357 which I also really like, but, that .45 wins hands down. Hows that?

I do best when keeping an open mind when considering my options. One Henry doesn't always have to equate to 10 Henrys or even 10 Rugers. Doesn't always mean that's a bad thing, however there are so many options and often I am more happy after careful consideration of all of my options.

I'm with Al: Small Game Carbine in 22lr. Inexpensive to acquire, inexpensive to shoot, peep sights out of the box, large loop lever, super fun to shoot, great for overall practicing.

From there, the world is your oyster...
