Because I'm new to Henry firearms I'm sure I'll have more questions in the future but for now 2 questions
What are the brass receivers coated with and is there any chance that will chip off down the road ?
Also I'm going to order the brass ghost ring sights - do I remove the existing sight to mount it? Thanks for any info

Re: 2 questions
Welcome to the Henry forums.
I do not know for sure, but I believe the brass receiver covers are clear-coated, and that would be it.
It should not chip away.
As for the ghost ring sights, I'm afraid you'll need to wait on someone else to answer that.

Re: 2 questions
Those brass receivers are, I believe, are hardened brass. Polished. No chipping. Have it on my .357. Slowly, kinda going to the patina look, as I don't polish it much any longer. Still looks good tho. Sorry, no help on the ghost ring.

Re: 2 questions
The brass is not coated to my knowledge. It can be kept brightly polished (with a non-corrosive product), though the time worn patina that can and will develop is sometimes preferred.
I installed a receiver mounted Skinner peep on my H006 and did remove the barrel mounted buck horn sight. Don't know if the buck horn had to be removed, though I assumed it should and took it off. Let us know what you decide to do with yours. I love the peep sight!

Re: 2 questions
From my understanding the golden boy is not hardened brass, but the big boy is. That being said, I would be careful with cleaning products/polish as products that are safe for your 45-70 may not be for your golden boy.

Ditto what the others have said and one more thing. Even if it did fail somehow. If you contact Henry they will fix it. Henrys guarantee is chip proof. pun intended.
