.
Both OPs, spoke of using the iron sights without a scope.
Regardless of what base is attached to the rifle, the scope rings mounted atop the base block view of the iron sights. Quick attach/detach rings give the shooter the option of quickly switching between scope and iron sight use if the base is thin enough or iron sights are high enough without removing the base.
originator OP (aggiesam1983): "...has iron sights so that I could use it with or without a scope."
2nd OP (Chemosabe23): "...won't block my view of the iron sights if the scope is removed?"

Ya but I got the impression the OP wanted to have access irons while being able to use the scope too

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

No sir, not at all. I was interested to see if others besides me had scoped theirs, some friends were giving me grief for scoping a lever action.

None of your friends HERE would give you grief for that.

Yes it was my mistake as Mags pointed that out also. I dont see a thing wrong with it. Especially if you are blessed with the eyes to be able to use the irons. I havent seen the irons on the LR so Im not sure how they would work for me. But if there the same ones the use on the SS I didnt care for those at all. Show youre friends the picture of the LR without the irons and ask them if they could shoot that one.

It's called a "Long Ranger" for a reason. It would be the rare shooter, it seems to me, that could get its long range capabilities out of it without putting a scope on it.

From the pictures of a single shot, the rear sight looks like it is the same one as on the sighted LR.
