Son was by earlier. With the rain we sighted in the LR from inside the garage out to the pump house 50yds away with the laser bore sight. Got it as close to 6 O'clock as we could. There is no fine adjustment with the LR sighted. Little side taps for windage and wiggling the v insert updown for elevation is all one gets to play with. Shooting verification is for later on a non-rainy day.
Mags wrote:...As you may recall I did not sight in the rifle before sending it back to Henry. I did attempt that today with my laser bore sight, unfortunately I can't see the rifle sights and the laser POI simultaneously, so the adjustment ended up being a swag. I'll have my son check it out tomorrow ...

I disassembled the magazine. Something found inside that might interfere with the butt of rounds and magazine lift plate as they move up in the magazine.

The magazine has an inner and outer shell. The inner shell is steel and the outer is plastic, and has two buttons that snap into holes in the heal of the inner steel shell. The top most button had a plastic burr on it. Originally it wasn't as prominent as seen in the picture as I picked at the burr some so that I could get a good picture of it. My theory, if the heal of the rounds and eventually the heal of the mag lift plate get snagged on the burr then the bullet tip and toe of the mag plate could be tilted at the front of the magazine upward resulting in the bullet tip jamming up cock-eyed in the top of the receiver.

Took the LR out for it's first shooting since getting back from Henry repair. A quick shoot in my shooting lane before it resumed raining, so not a formal disciplined sit down shoot. Federal .223 55gr FMJ. Standing using a tree as a left side forestock rest. Results are from 25 yds. Laser bore sighting yesterday got me close enough for todays shoot.

The Bonna jug is some tough plastic. The holes closed up and it was very difficult to jam the brass cases in the holes for the picture. The top center hole is a 2 in 1. POA was body center of the jug, well at least as close as I could get while shaking.

Splash targets don't do well when attached to a steel plate. Think I got a good 6 o'clock hold though. White dot front sight just covering the red dot target bull's eye.

Anyway got the shooting itch scratched.

I hope you're gonna send a pic of that mag to HRA... Sounds like that's probably your feed issue...

deburring the plastic buttons in the mag really didn't change anything. still had occasional cock-eyed jam during todays shoot.

I asked Jeff at Henry CS for new mag. He had the HenryPride store send one. Received it last Friday. The lift plate in the mag is plastic. So far it hasn't gouged. Even if it did it wouldn't be scraping off metal shavings. It's only been scuffed a little bit by the bottom of the bolt.

I had also shared the above with Jeff at Henry CS. Part of his response: ... all box mag lifts are now being made with plastic for smoother operation.

Got it scoped. Borrowed a Leopold V3xi 3.5-10x40 from my oldest son who wasn't using it. Took a few minutes this evening to laser bore sight at 50yds.
Mounted using the Skinner split base that came with the rifle and 3/4 inch high rings. Total height from the top of the receiver 1 inch. Not sure when I'll get to fine tune the scope sighting with actual shooting. Most of my time tied up in another remodel project.
