A fellow I hunted with has a 1892 Rossi .357 in stainless. It’s the 16” carbine, and when I first saw it, I loved it. Then I actually got to shoot it and looked a little closer. The fit and finish is atrocious. There are 1/16” to 1/8” gaps all over it, and the metal is proud to the wood. My Henry (and yours PT7) are far better quality. My late JM Marlin 1895 is pretty much perfection, but I now prefer my 2 Henrys to all my other long guns. I take pride in my things, but I see bumps and dings as character. As long as I put them there, they are fine.

Just like a fancy wood floor in a home. It's nice for a while, but if it's not getting dinged (not wrecked of course) up, it is really getting used? That's the thing I like best about natural wood floors and other products. Character and stories.

Well, I blew the tranny in my 2014 diesel truck today for the second time, so I guess that’s more character?

You guys are tough. Now pull out your AR and give it the same scrutiny.

I think it you want a tactical all weather black lever, that's what you should expect.
