Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry

Re: 22Plinkster 45-70 Vid
Interactive targets are fun, but I’ve got an informal shooting range on public lands to clean up this spring. It was grim in the fall, as nobody ever cleans up rafter themselves. Have I said it before?? I really dislike a lot of humans...

Re: 22Plinkster 45-70 Vid
No it is not and removes the sporting/accuracy aspect of shooting and relegates it to nothing more than a delivery system to ignite/detonate items that either explode or splatter material around. Kind of like that idiotic tv show a couple years ago 'Sons of guns' - rednecks shooting at gigantic piles of explosives and other junk - with bizarre gun creations - virtually nothing sporting or accuracy related about it.The vid that started all this is really not all that smart and certainly not exemplary on many levels, is it?
I can understand how 'newbees' or neyophyte gun owners might find these displays 'exciting' but they are nothing more than circus-like sideshows and have nothing to do with the true aspects of sporting/target shooting.

Closest I have come is filling a cup from a local donut shop with sand at the range and shooting it off the top of the 50 yd target board just for fun. Blew out the back of the cup pretty good, not to mention the puff of dust...sorry, just couldn't help myself...

Hey if it can be picked up/cleaned up or otherwise does not pollute or leave potentially dangerous material on the ground (E.G. the guy with the MG and the kid with the lever shooting at the glass balls - yea, I'll bet every glass shard got picked up...) then shoot away ! - otherwise leave the spray paint and sealant cans on the shelf where they belong.

Agree on the messy stuff. We have a rule for the backcountry: leave only hoofprints behind.

Here a paper cup should be ok. Mark a bull's eye or triangle or something else on it and it should be considered a "home made paper target"

Tried to delete the original post but can't. Regret posting it in the first place.
At least it gave rise to some discussion about some regional get-togethers among members for some responsible (!) shooting and camaraderie.
Point taken.
