Why change a great look. I kinda regret not going with the 4.5x14 vx 3 but I had already swapped scopes out once before and I didn't know how the wife would feel about it.Mags wrote: yup that update to the post worked! Funny how that LR looks just like mine!
I do have my eye on one though . We will see if the guy comes down on price anymore.
It was a hard choice between the 308 and 6.5. factory ammo leaned me to 6.5 for the velocity, but knowing what I know now about reloading I would prob choose the 308 as it can push a 160-170gr bullet pretty good.
Oh well kinda like choosing between a free ice cream cone and a free candy bar.

.
one of the sorta adhoc mottos here is when faced with a choice, do both . So you can go after the ice cream cone AND candy bar.

Haha, I will try and explain that to my wife and see what she says.
When I bought my Henry and showed it to her, she asked right away...."so I get a new one too, right?".... Now we have a Henry lr and a weatherby vanguard camilla. Win win

.
This is how it went for me...
I got my wife a KitchenAid, but shortly after she tells me she'd rather have had a Sharps .45-70.

Re: Long Ranger in 6.5 Creedmoore
Here's my Long Ranger. Out of the box, it had an 8# trigger pull and the buttstock larger than the recoil pad. Sent it back. When returned the buttstock had been replaced with a much nicer piece of wood and fit and for some reason, the lever replaced. Trigger pull now 6#
I have a bolt rifle (Savage) in 6.5 Creedmoor that has taken 3 deer to date. In each case, the deer did not take a step after being hit (range 143 yd. + or -)
See pictures of Long Ranger and first target at 100 yards. This with a 6# trigger....

Re: Long Ranger in 6.5 Creedmoore
mine threw some 124 gr hammer hunters down range at 2940 fps using H4350. I am pretty sure I can top 3000 fps with some RL 26, but I have to wait for another shipment of hammers to test that theory.
shooting moa groups without trouble.
For comparison it shoots 140gr factory american gunner rounds at 2675 fps compared to the factory rating of 2690, but that is on a 24" barrel for hornandy testing.
Impressive gun so far.
