Has any one put peep sights on there Big Boy? If you did, did you have to change the front sight?

Yes and yes.
Search the Sights and Scopes sub-category and you will find a lot of good info on peeps posted.

I put Skinner barrel mount peep sights on my Big Boy Brass .44 and on my Big Boy Steel .357 and .45-70. I did not have to change the front sights. If you use the Skinner receiver mount peep sight, you will probably have to change the front sight but don't know this for a fact.

I put a Skinner LoPro on my BBS and chose to also install a Lyman globe front sight. As noted above, lots of discussion about this on the Sights and Scopes subforum.

good luck with getting your sights modified to where they best suit you .... we have a considerable number of folks who have installed peep sights on their Henry rifles .... please take a look at our How Many ? thread (link below) and add your rifle to our community's total

I got lucky in the peep sight installation game.
I installed my low pro In the hole I closest to the hammer. Previously, I had cut several threads off of the stem to keep it from bottoming out.

As you can see from the photo, it is installed through the weaver 80b rail. This allows me to attach a scope, and remove it for use of the low pro sight.

Yes, I did have to adjust to the front sight. I filed the stock Henry bead off. It is now a straight blade. Fortunately for me, it works perfectly.

I now have the option of using my scope, or removing it for open sight work. At 50 yards, or less, this Peepsight works very well. Beyond that, yes I need the scope.

Good luck in your adventure. I did a lot of research and reading to come up with my solution.
