Henry Color-Cased 357 BigBoy Carbine

Post by tractortad » Tue Nov 06, 2018 5:10 pm

Been waiting a while to check one of these out - they have been hard to find. The LGS got this one in yesterday. After looking it over, decided I better not let go of it. It has that typical Henry quality, beautiful wood, and "solid" feel, plus there is just something about a color-cased receiver and octagon barrel that is hard to resist. So it came home with us. Here is a pic of it fresh out of the box:

We'll clean it up and add a Skinner Express rear and Lyman Globe front (from PT7 who is selling his old sights off a 357 BBS that he got rid of) and then sight it in at 25 yds - more to follow...

Congrats, TT! That is BEEEYOOOTIFULLL!! To me, the CCH has it all: checkered stocks, octagon barrel, sling studs, the fantastic CCH receiver. The large loop on the carbine is absolutely a bonus!
Can't wait to hear how it shoots for you with PT7's Skinner set-up; a real win/win there, huh?
Good for you!

Yes. Henrys are nice. I lightly oiled the fire control area in my Marlin and Henry this afternoon (both 30-30s). I could not help but notice how smooth the Henry was (cycled a few dummy rounds). The trigger feel was fluid. Now, I thinking about getting a Big Boy Silver. The different receivers seem to speak to you.

Color me jealous! I really wanted one of those but decided to “settle” for the BBS .357 Carbine. Since I wanted it as a bush gun, and for hunting, it’s probably best that I didn’t get the CCH. I’d be afraid to take it out!

I didn't see any full size CCH Bigboys, but they did have a nice 357Mag Single-shot. I didn't ask to handle it because I was afraid that one would want to come home with me, too - These things are addictive....
