The Bass Pro close to me where I have bought 2 Henrys in the last year won't even let you carry the rifle out of the store. After you are done shopping they carry it from the gun counter to the door. Oh ya, they have the gun locks on all fire arms there also.

Thanks everybody. I made a dumb mistake that I've not made before and will not make again. I've had firearms most of my life (almost 60 years) but there's still lots of room to learn. I look forward to getting the gun back--hopefully soon!

Welcome to the forum rls. I had an issue with front sights and asked Henry to overnight ship me a new one so I could have my rifle for a hunting trip 3 days away. They did. I stopped trying to figure out the stupidity of Bass Pro and Cabela’s a long time ago. We have both near me, but BP is 15 mins, and Cabela’s 45 mins away.
At BP, all the guns are trigger locked, but they will unlock them for you to cycle the action if there is a second staff member standing beside you on the customer side of the counter. (I was looking at a Marlin 336 and they unlocked it for me, and the action was sticking on it too. I didn’t buy it.)
At Cabela’s, nothing is locked up. BUT, at Cabela’s I’ve been chased out of the store for bringing my bird dog in to try on items for fit. The arse who kicked us out was condescending and rude saying “we sell food here so your dog has to leave”. By food, he meant candy and jerky in sealed packages. When we go to BP, which sells 5x more of e candy and jerky, and has a restaurant INSIDE the store, my dogs are welcome and treated like royalty and gushed over by the staff.

Welcome ! If any current manufacturer will take care of your problem in a timely manner it will be Henry. Not looking to be critical, but I usually try to shoot my hunting rifle, new or used, well before the season in order to fix any problems well ahead of the opener. But I do understand that sometimes life gets in the way. Hope it all works out for you.

Welcome. I would not call it a dumb mistake. But, I agree with lesson learned. Unfortunately, at time, we may exercise degrees of faith, both in the seller and manufacture. In this age, profit seems to be the name of the game. As such, things may get lost. But the good thing, Henry will probably stand behind its product. My experiences with Customer Service has been positive. Yet, I prefer not to use them. Who knows, putting a lock on the rifle may have created an issue?rls58 wrote:Thanks everybody. Never had the 'pleasure' of being inside a Cabelas or Bass Pro Shop but I suspect I wouldn't care for the environment of either (too big, too many people and too 'sterile')
The largest outdoor/sporting goods store we have is Sportsman's Warehouse and its more 'blue collar' oriented and no trigger locks or 2nd person hovering over you to operate actions.
