Fiocchi 44mag 240gr JSP

Post by MSUDAWG » Fri Aug 17, 2018 11:56 am

I don’t know if any of you have tried this ammo in a Henry, but my BBS is very consistent with it. I got a 1.5 inch 4 shot group with it today at a lasered 100 yds. My next group was a 3 shot group and 2 of the shots went in the same hole. The 3rd was a bit of a flyer about 2.5 inches away from the first two. I may have jerked the trigger on that one. I wanted to pass the information along because it is a relatively cheap ammo that performs better than other factory ammo that I’ve tried. It has me excited for the upcoming deer season.

Doesn't do well in my Marlin .44 at all but I do find it very good for my Marlin .22WMR. My Marlin does the best with my reloads using the .225 gr FTX. over Accurate #9.

I’ll give tat a try in my.44. Have you put any of the Hornady Leverevolution through yours yet? I bought some but have yet to shoot any of it.

Yeah, I’ve shot a box or two of the leverevolution through the gun. It kept giving me fliers so I tried the Fiocchi. The leverevolution would shoot two or three in a decent group and then throw one about 4 inches away from the group.

That’s weird. Not due to barrel heat? Obviously if you are shooting more than 3-4 with the Fiocchi without similar results it must not be heat related. Just seems weird to me that it would consistently shoot tight for three and then send one that far off. I have my .44 with me today (of course my .44 bore sight showed up at home an hour after I left!) so I will see if I’m even on paper with it’s new scope. If I am, I may dial it in the old school way. I’ve got American Eagle 240 grain JHPs and the Hornady 225 FTXs with me. Still haven’t seen any Fiocchis in the stores.

My marlin 1894 45 colt absolutely loves the Federal American Eagles. I shot a very good 5 shot group at 100 yds. with them a couple of months back. I haven’t been able to replicate that group, but it’ll average 2 inches with the American eagles at 100 yds. That’s plenty good enough for me.

The flyer in the group was the first shot, and I’m pretty sure that one was my fault.

The first pic is of my BBS and my 1894

Very nice shooting and two great looking rifles! Thanks for sharing. I've had very good experiences with Fiocchi 158 gr in my BBS .357. Very consistent for practice ammo.
