Well, glad to hear you're on the mend! Keep shooting, though, keeps us young!

My H010CC is my 4th 45-70 and my second Henry (the other is a H010).

With the Skinner peep (which works fine with the factory height front sight) I can generally keep 5 shots in a couple inches at 50 yards...about as good as 60 year old eyes with astigmatism can do!

As mentioned previously, it is a very comfortable rifle to shoot due to the mass and the nice recoil pad.

I have zero complaints with this rifle! I think it is very well executed and I suspect it will be in the stable for quite some time!

Hope you enjoy yours!

Thank you much. I sent a personal message for some detailed info on your Skinner sights. Hope you received it.

Glad to hear from you. Have received lot of positive feedback from folks who own the H010CC. What ammo have you used for hunting deer and how did it perform? Are you using the factory buckhorn when you shoot open sights ? I'm still waiting on mine. Ordered about 5 weeks ago.

I reload us 300gr nos bal.tip with 64 gr Hodgkin 335 get about 2250 fps and 1 1/2 group @ 100yds. JE bar has Webb site for blemished bullets@ very cheap price. Also loaded Missouri hi tec cast bullets405 gr with 35 gr h4198 they are accurate but kick some what harder . I will also try them on deer this season. The cc has enough wt to reduce a lot of recoil. Any way it is a very pleasant rifle to shoot

You've got that 300 gr load stepping out there ! Beauty of the .45-70 on the range of loads one can shoot isn't it ? A lot of folks sure seem to really like their Skinner sight setup. I am considering it myself.

not surprised in the least at the performance you report using the 300 gr Nosler Ballistic Silvertips .... we push ours with 51.5 gr of IMR 4198 .... our Chrony consistently shows numbers just over/under 2230 fps .... as far as hunting big game with them, with the possible exception of a large grizzly or brown bear, I wouldn't hesitate to use them hunting any big game animal found in this country ....
