Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry
BBS, .357 Has Landed!
Re: BBS, .357 Has Landed!
I take it that means the mass of the bullets in a vertical drop or steep angle can pop the lever. Interesting. So load with a gentle slope is the message.

Re: BBS, .357 Has Landed!
Even though I believe I discovered the primary cause of the load tube issue another contributing factor could be the tube springs being too long. If one has this problem removing the spring and cutting a few coils off might help.

That's all good to know. I'm familiar with operator error with a Henry!
I'll cross that off my list of things to fret about!
Thanks for clearing that up!

I've wondered about that. I've lost my grip a couple of times on the inner mag tube and had it launch itself across the room.Mistered wrote:... another contributing factor could be the tube springs being too long. If one has this problem removing the spring and cutting a few coils off might help.

That's a much better launching pad than the shooting table at a range, and "firing" the mag tube down range. Usually doesn't reach the target either.

The launching Mags described happened to me last week. Lost my grip on the 357 inner tube when I had it about half-way down and it landed about 10 feet in front of me. Had to go get the RSO to retrieve it! Felt like a total newb!

Think how far it could have gone if you had it almost all the way down. Having butter fingers doesn't make us newbsESquared wrote:The launching Mags described happened to me last week. True enough, not so much newbie as "uh-oh," right? Fair amount of spring tension there, that's for sure.Mags wrote:Think how far it could have gone if you had it almost all the way down.
