New Henry added today

Picked up a Big boy steel in 44 mag. Henry has my vote. Wonder what size lead to buy for this one.

congrats on your Henry 44 ... ours has literally fired thousands of rounds .... it has proven to be an outstanding rifle ... very solid, very smooth, very accurate .... really looking forward to your range and use reports .... we fire mostly 240 gr Nosler JHP blems .... these blems are hunting quality bullets that might have a spot on the finish that isn't as shiny as they want it .... I buy them at this link ===> http://www.shootersproshop.com/nosler-p ... 100ct.html .... I believe they are out of stock right now, no surprise because they have very reasonable prices .... please be sure to add it to our How Many ? thread (link below)

Are these just bullets or fully ready to shoot? Could not tell from the website. Thanks.

the link is for bullets to be used in reloading .... we loaded 100 yesterday and 200 more today .... our 44 is one of the rifles we take with us when we travel in our camper .... by the time we leave home in June to travel half way cross country to South Dakota we hope to have 1,000+ rounds ready to take with us .... during the trip we have 4 days (2 going out and 2 coming back) planned to stay in St Louis were (if the weather cooperates) we will probably fire 100 to 200 a day at Jay Henges shooting park ==> https://nature.mdc.mo.gov/discover-natu ... ion-center .... if Jay Henges rifle/pistol range is still being renovated we will move to August Bush shooting range ===> https://nature.mdc.mo.gov/discover-natu ... ion-center .... most of the remainder will be fired while we are in South Dakota .... Henry makes workhorse rifles that are built to shoot .... reloading our bullets sure helps to cut the cost and using the Nosler blems allows us to practice with the same rounds we hunt with

All of our 44M Henrys seem to do well with Federal 240g JHP. We usually get them at Walmart...

They gave me 2 boxes of the rubber tipped plated bullets with purchase. Have never shot them before. I am going to try and find 240 gas checked lead. If not I will probably try coated Missouri bullets. Sized .431 if I remember correct.

Are those "rubber-tipped" bullets the Hornady "LeverEvolution"?
If so, they are jacketed, not plated, and they run great in my JM stamped Marlin 1894, and they hit like a brick.
I've taken several whitetail deer with those bullets, a couple with a Ruger Super Blackhawk.
None of the deer I've shot with those LeverEvolution rounds have gone more than 25 yards.
Most dropped inside 25 feet!

Yes they are. I thought about buying some for my micro groove 30-30 but reviews showed the didn't do too good. I might have to buy a box before getting some to reload. And I apologize. Used so much lead lately I forgot jacketed. They are.

Yeah, the .30-30 offerings don't do well in my Mossberg 464 either.
Might be the twist rate.
Remington Cor-Lokt are hard to beat in .30-30.
