KUDOS TO THE GUYS & GALS IN BAYONNE !!

Post by Pitchman1968 » Sat Mar 10, 2018 4:01 pm

At my age it's quite hard to impress me, but a couple of weeks ago, the folks in Henry's customer service and repair departments did just that. I had badly jammed up my Henry .44 Mag BBB while loading cartridges down the magazine tube with the action open. For 62 years I have been hunting with my grandfather's Savage Model 99 in .303 Savage. That rifle has a rotary magazine, and as such, the lever must be open to load the rifle. I guess muscle memory, plus lack of concentration caused me to attempt to load my Henry in the same way I load the Savage.
Upon returning home from the range, I compounded my mistake by watching Henry's video on tearing down and re-assembling a .44 Mag BBB. About 10 minutes into my disassembly process, I tapped out a receiver screw, and simultaneously, a spring and several other parts under tension flew out of the receiver and ricocheted off the wall behind the my workbench. After gaining my composure I went to HRA's website and described my screw-ups to anyone at HRA's Bayonne facility who might offer some help.
Within 4 hours I had a return email with attachments containing return to factory authorization and a UPS pre-paid mailer. I packed up my rifle and whatever receiver parts I could find and headed off to the UPS terminal. 5 working days later, UPS delivered the repaired rifle back to me. The next day I took it to the range and the rifle and its operator performed flawlessly! HRA deserves the 2018 Malcolm Baldrige Award for superior customer service !

Yeah, we have all heard that ‘ping’ off the wall. Glad you are back up and running.

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Yep ! thats for sure ! - Hint? get a gallon size freezer bag and poke a hole in the end and slide it over the barrel to the receiver and try to arrange it so when you are tapping something out under spring tension it will be contained in the bag. I have disassembled more than a few handguns inside freezer bags!
