With center fire guns it is usually deer hunting for me. I carry three in the gun and two in my pocket. I sometimes carry a revolver too.

I don’t yet own a Henry, but I carry an extra load in a Simply Rugged ammo pouch, to match my SR Sourdough Pancake holster for my SP101 .327 Fed Mag.

Good stuff, custom features, high quality, hand made in the USA.

I also have a couple of plastic Quick Strips, one of which will fit (loaded) in the pouch. They can be carried open in a pocket.... but I prefer that the ammo be fully protected in a hard container. For a long gun, you would not use the Quick Strips since they are for loading a wheel gun (they present each cartridge “backwards” for a rifle with a tube.

I haven't used my Henry Steel for anything other than deer. I don't carry any extra. I fill the tube and go. Figure if I miss that many times............It's time to go home and re group.

My state restricts some calibers to 10 rounds, so I just fill the tube and go.
No need or reason for extra ammo.

Try wetting the loops and forcing the 41 mags in. It's a great caliber.

Just one of many styles this fellow makes. Very nice quality work. The lever cover comes with it.

I placed a piece of firm 3/8" closed cell foam in the butt to ease some recoil.

For the range? I just throw it in the range bag.

For hunting? If I need more than the magazine can hold, it's time to go back to the range.
