Only have about 40 rounds through the CCH, but she sure is a sweetie!

Trying to decide what to do about the sighting. I may try the buckhorn out to 100 before I do anything.

I have an Aimpoint on the way for my Cape Buffalo rifle...so that is going to free up a Weaver Super Slam 1-5x currently on that rifle. If I put that 1-5 on the CCH I would have my short/handy with a Skinner and my longer/heavier with scope for those long-range shots, lol.

Something about a scope on a lever just seems wrong though. I suppose I need to try it. Maybe not....omg. It's driving me nuts thinking about it!!

Another option is a Skinner "Reliable" rear with a Lyman 20 Globe front - makes for a nice sight picture out to 100 yds - almost like a low power scope.

I like the longer forearm stock on the ch version for more finger space upon felt recoil.
How is the stock front brass bead sight working with the Skinner peep?
I am considering the Skinner Express scope mount and quick detach rings on mine.
Let us know the difference in accuracy, felt recoil, etc.
Best.

I really like the look of a color case hardened Henry and wish they would expand the calibers they offer with it

X2 - a CCH 44Mag with an octagon barrel would be an instant classic...

agree .... many times I've considered sending off our BBS 44 and 357 Mags to have them color case hardened .... now, I find myself thinking those thoughts once again 8-)

Just wondering my 45/70 cch will hold 5 bullets and feed. Advertised by Henry to hold 4 in tube. Anyone else do this?

I have the steel version .45-70 with round barrel. Mine will take 5 in the tube and feed. I always load 5 in the tube and leave the chamber empty.

tarbe wrote: I kinda wish Henry would have added enough length to the tube to get another round in her...but I understand why they didn't (cost involved with tooling changes and more different parts to inventory). Keeping things streamlined and simple keeps them profitable and in business (which is good for us!).
Also, possibly they felt the extra weight at the muzzle from the cartridges and the tube just added too much weight hanging off the front (with the octagon barrel and all).
