45-70 Big Boy Muzzle Brake

Finally got to shoot my first ever Henry in 45-70. When I lived in WYO. I used a 300 Win Mag for elk and deer. I am not shy about recoil, but my goodness, the recoil from the 45-70 was a bit much. LOL. Can you folks recommend a gunsmith for a possible muzzle break install? I have a Limb Saver pad on the way, and the brake would be the next step if needed. Thanks.

Do you have a threaded barrel version?

A good muzzle brake will reduce recoil 10 to 15%

A suppressor will reduce it upwards of 35 percent.

For my leveractions i usw griffin armament mounts and suppressors.
Bushwacker 46 can

And the mounts that work with bushwacker 46, you'll be limited by thread pitch... i use plan a taper mount minalmalist muzzle brake

first, welcome to our forum, delighted to have you join us .... well understood on the recoil from a 45-70 .... along with a good recoil pad, I had a 4" Mercury Recoil Suppressor --- http://www.mercuryrecoil.com/ --- installed in the stock, and had it Mag-na-ported instead of having a Muzzle Brake .... I didn't like the thought of threading its barrel .... it still has some recoil but its nowhere near what it once was

I didn't know Magn-na-port was still in business. Used them many years ago. You mentioned the Mercury Suppressor...do the Henry stocks already have a hole drilled in the stock? Any chance you still remember the stock number of the suppressor you had installed? Want to do what I can as this rifle will belong to my grandson when I'm gone. He didn't appreciate the recoil  LOL.

so far as I know Mag-Na-Port is still very much in business ---- https://magnaport.com/ ---- the Mercury Suppressor was a 4" one .... as I recall, the gunsmith who installed it did have to drill the stock .... over the years I've tamed several hard kick'n long guns through a top quality recoil pad, Mercury Suppressor, and Mag-Na-PORTING ....three that come to mind are a Henry 45-70 lever action, a Remington BDL bolt action chambered for 300 WBY Magnum, and a light weight Remington bolt action with synthetic stock chambered for 30-06
