Shooting the Uberti 1860 with .45acp is a delight. I haven't tried it with +P yet.

Shooting the 1860 is still a delight. Am going to convert to Slixshot nipples when shooting with the black powder cylinder. Much quicker and easier with the .45 acp cylinder.

Am also working on converting an 1862 Police to .380 acp.
Far more difficult.

Several months ago, I gave my grandson a Golden Boy. I was much impressed with the finish and buttery smooth action, so yesterday I got myself a Big Boy .357 Magnum H006M.

Very disappointing. Stock had a gouge and was also irregularly shaped near a knot. Magazine tube was very rough, and the action was sloppy loose, noisy, and felt like it had sand in it, Trigger was heavy, but OK. Will shoot it this weekend. I am optimistic though. Fancy furniture will take care of the gouge and knot. And I think some shims, Marlin springs, and a few wipes with an Arkansas stone will go a long way toward curing the lousy action. The gun itself is rather attractive.

Send it back to Henry..........You shouldn't have rebuild a new gun to make work........If it's acti0n is "sloppy" it's only gonna get worse.

I don’t understand why you bought that gun in the first place … its obvious furniture faults and loose action would be huge red flags. Did you not inspect it before you accepted it at the FFL?

I would send it back to Henry, immediately, once you start doing stuff like a trigger job it makes it much harder to deal with a warranty repair, they certainly won’t return it with aftermarket shims or trigger parts installed.

I think Henry’s reputation for high quality is way overblown, they have many production line quality control problems, BUT they will fix your gun for you. Don’t buy new wood yet, give them a chance! If you get nice wood then you can use that saved cash for ammo!

I'd wager that most of the reputation for 'high quality' comes from highly visible product reviewers sponsored by Henry. Otherwise the word 'quality' might often be misused for 'beautiful' and Henry guns are beautiful.
