My Henry CCH .44 magnum Big Boy
My Henry CCH .44 magnum Big Boy
After looking for months I finally found one on Gunbroker and bought it at a decent price. When I picked it up at my LGS, I was very happy with how beautiful it was. The CCH finish is much prettier in person.
I tested the trigger last night and it broke at an average weight of 3 pounds 8 ounces, and it is very clean.
Then I noticed the stock has a small crack in it:
To be honest, the stock has nicks in it, and I don't expect perfection, but a few years ago, a big chunk of a wooden stock broke off in the exact same spot when I fired that rifle. If I had not been wearing glasses, I would have lost my left eye. As it was, I only got a cut on my nose. I am going to shoot this with glasses on, but it will be going back to Henry at some point.
And the feed tube has a scratch through the bluing.
I am sure Henry will take care of any issue I may have, and the only thing that might really disappoint me is if the rifle has functional issues. I can't wait to shoot this thing.

Good find, nice trigger, beautiful rifle monadh. Too bad the lever isn’t CCH but I see that Henry does have a large loop CCH lever. Maybe Henry will supply you with one when you speak with them. As JEBar stated Henry will make it right.

Sorry to hear about the first part of the story, but glad to hear about the outcome! Please post some pics of the new stock when you can. The CCH is beautiful, to be sure. You're absolutely right, much more impressive in person.
What did you decide to do about the mag tube? I'm imagining that will require a return trip to Rice Lake, but maybe not...
