Yes, it is a high temp silicone. It won’t affect the bluing at all.

Since you mentioned paint, does anyone know what the finish is on the steel receiver? It’s definitely not blued like the barrel. I don’t recall seeing it mentioned on Henry’s site.

Edit: Found them saying it’s matte bluing on their site. That’s good as the paint thing strikes me as a bit cheesy!
Im not too sure what the finish is. Ill do some research here and ill let you know. If i can remember i think you are right. I've heard about that matte bluing somewhere too.

The superblack is the paint on the zamac receiver cover, yes?

I found 2 mentions of “blued finish” or “matte blued” on Henry’s website. My memory must be fading!

.
I think what you found is for the steel receivers. Ya the superblack was in regards to zamak receivers.

Our fellow forum member Roddy is giving my Ruger .44 a new home. He called dibs in post #6 of this thread, and it is winging its way towards him as we speak. Now I will have to change the title of this thread to “I’m not really going to get in much trouble at all” as the head count in the safe has equalized! I’m sure he will enjoy it, as I’m sure I will enjoy putting some rounds downrange from the .357 this coming week :D

I finally got to shoot the .357 this morning but only got 10 rounds through it. I got a turkey at 7:30 am, and then by the time I’d cleaned it, had coffee and took the dogs for a grouse hunt, I didn’t have much time for playing. The wife did try to claim the BBS, and then the SGC for herself! I offered her dibs on the .45-70 Marlin, but she figured she wouldn’t want to shoot it too often. Naturally I mentioned how pretty a CCH .44 would look on her... The seed has been planted!

I finally got around to showing my wife the two new Henrys, and I didn’t actually get in trouble. In fact, she tried to claim them both for herself! I assured her she could use them any time she felt the need, but “claiming” them was not exactly what I had in mind! She said the BBS was the nicest looking rifle I have now, and then I pulled out the SGC, and she may have liked that even better, although she still prefers shooting a .308 to a .22!

When I met her she owned a much nicer rifle than me! I think it was a stainless Weatherby Ultralight in .280 Rem with about a $1500 Zeiss scope on it. I had to buy something as nice, of course!

If you are that worried about it, then you were already neutered.
