45 Colt Big Boy barrel issue

Post by DSchmidt23 » Sun Aug 31, 2025 2:54 pm

First post here, so being a long member on several other forums let me start by saying I am a big fan of Henry rifles. And I get that sometimes things come out wrong and I feel confident Henry will fix ‘er up. I’m more posting this to see if anyone has seen this before. I bought a new Big Boy in 45 Colt and took to the range to zero my Skinner peep sight I put on. Well here is an interesting one. I noticed I had to really move my Skinner rear sight to zero my Henry 45 Colt. Groups were tight, just sights were odd. Well I took a look when I got home and wow- so the octagon barrel makes the level easy to see. At the receiver, the barrel seems way canted, but at the muzzle, its level. However, the front sight is all goofy. So yes, I guess I have to send it back, but an odd set up especially with the two bubble level readings. Anyone seen this before?

My 357 mag had this issue but was back in my hands with a new barrel in about 8 days.

Interesting. Now I gotta go check mine.

[Update]. Mine's good.

I should have it back from Henry tomorrow. I’ll get it back out Tuesday for a range run. Quick turnaround from Henry.

This made me go check mine. Just dandy. I'm sure Henry will fix it proper.
