New project!!

Post by Dahliathemeh » Thu Dec 05, 2019 3:13 pm

Last night while watching fails with the better half, we saw a man that made a vertical smoker out of a filing cabinet. I thought Brilliant!!! And looked over at him, he already knew what was coming. We have a cabinet in our attic collecting dust, and I am a grill mistress. So well, new project!

Interesting. It would have to be pretty good gauge metal to hold up in the coals area and seal up pretty well to hold the heat and the smoke. One thing to check for is some of the glides have plastic or nylon wheels. Other than that it seems doable. Pictures please.

interesting project .... as one who builds his own cookers/smokers, I've found that using a Smoke Daddy cold smoker ===> https://smokedaddyinc.com/product-categ ... d-smokers/ <=== simplifies the entire process .... a couple of the ones we use are shown below .... one on our traveling grill and one mounted on our large home smoker .... with them you can cold or hot smoke ....they also allow you to use whatever heat source (wood, gas, electric, charcoal) you like .... I can see how an old file cabinet can most certainly be modified to make a good smoker, looking forward to following your progress

Does that run on pellets or chips? Pictures will be coming as soon as I get started. What I want to do is go through some ideas and figure out what will be best for me. I want to come up with my ultimate design.

the small one uses pellets .... the larger one burns chunks .... they have another size between the two that uses chips .... I really like the air pump that allows you to adjust how thick you want the smoke .... I'm sure that whatever design you come up with will serve you well

' Da-Bears '...enjoy what, so far, looks like a win....then go back to the smoker thoughts.
Sorry...just an old Bear fan!😁

I just got off the phone with my better half, both my son and hubby blew out my ear with all the yelling.
