Years ago I stripped off all the vinyl siding and did the whole house in 1/2 log siding. House is warmer in winter and cooler in summer. That was a project but worth it. But I've not built a deck before and this one reused an existing roof section, so I hired a guy. I would have taken all summer to do what he did in 2 weeks. Worth the dough.

That is a sweet deck. I can see you sitting back, relaxing with the morning tea and evening adult beverage, enjoying the view after a day of riding fence.
There will be a little old fashioned looking electric woodstove/heater going where the red chair is eventually, just enough to take the chill off in the late fall when sitting outside. Like sitting around a campfire but up on the deck....

Back deck starting to take shape. Temporary stairs from old deck. Safety railing too by back door. What a mess right now. Thats the demolished old deck in a pile behind.
No roof on this one.
