House Positioning On The Land
My house was built in the 1880’s. I’m not sure if the builder had a compass or even cared of the compass direction. I think they placed it on the land to take advantage of view.
This is the view straight out my front window and points 95 degrees which is slightly north.

Yes, but what was the view like back in those days? Were there more forests back then?

Gorgeous view, gorgeous property, and all looks well maintained too.
The phone shows 180º, which is dead South, and 95º would be East, so not sure I understand the coordinates part.
If that pic was taken in the afternoon, with those shadows, then that view must be South......or North if it's a morning pic.
Or completely opposite if both are reversed!

I think it would have been all forest so the view would have been even more open looking down the hill.North Country Gal wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 2:37 pmYes, but what was the view like back in those days? Were there more forests back then?

The compass picture was taken with the top being south. The view out the door would be in the direction of the til line running horizontal. I guess I should have taken the compass picture aimed east.rickhem wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 2:42 pmGorgeous view, gorgeous property, and all looks well maintained too.

Still a gorgeous piece of property, and I'll bet that deck is a great place to sit and enjoy it every month of the year.

What's the story with the 4 UFO's in the upper right just above the house?Sir Henry wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 12:46 pmMy house was built in the 1880’s. I’m not sure if the builder had a compass or even cared of the compass direction. I think they placed it on the land to take advantage of view.

Didn’t you read my thread about being abducted by aliens? The picture was taken through the door window or it could have been reflections inside the lens.GunnyGene wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 7:25 amWhat's the story with the 4 UFO's in the upper right just above the house?Sir Henry wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 12:46 pmMy house was built in the 1880’s. I thought they were smoke signals from the Hacowie Indians.
If I translate correctly, it says "View worth plenty wampum".
