Well...last night was only our second night at the cabin. I finished my chores for the day and was settling down with a coctail. Carol was cooking some Lima beans to go with our supper. The cat, ( Bodhi ) was staring out the door to the front deck and acting excited. Finally, I got up to look outside and saw a LARGE Mama bear and three cubs about to climb the steps. I stepped out and yelled at them. They turned and quickly ran into the woods up the mountain. I guess they just wanted to welcome us back.
Sorry, but I didn't think to grab my phone to take a pic. I'm sure they'll be back though. I'm guessing Mama was 400 to 500 lbs.
Today is another day, but, keeping my eyes open a little wider as I do more clearing.
Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry

Re: Beary Nice Welcome
I hear reports of bears within a few hundred yards of me but have never seen one in person. I do run across scat and tracks.

Interesting. Just make sure you don't have any food around to tempt mamma.
