I just ordered four 1,000 gallon tanks. One tank 80% full will last me 12 to 14 months. I hope to get two installed and filled during summer prices. Delivery is 3 to 5 weeks.

I’m starting to dig the platform space out for two tanks. Then I’ll fill it with gravel and then six inches of concrete. Two will need a 20’ x 12’ pad. I need to have them hooked up and filled before August 31st to get summer rates.

I may get a ventless radiant heater so I can at least keep the house from freezing should the power go out. Ventless heaters are 99.9% efficient and safe with the biggest drawback being a byproduct is water vapor. Not really a problem in the winter with normal inside humidity at 10%. Matter of fact most people run humidifiers.

Summers are great here except you spend all waking hours preparing for winter.

Something tells me you will be heading to a warmer place in the coming winters. :)

Winters are nice here. The problem is they are long. I’m thinking stay here in the calendar winter and then leave in the calendar spring when it’s actually still winter outside.

I broke ground on two of the tank platforms yesterday.

The tank on the left is an existing 500 gallon tank that is 10 feet from the house. I have to place the 1,000 gallon tanks 25 feet away.

I made a lot of progress today. I need to make it a few feet longer. It will fit in the dugout but I need to allow for erosion.

I’m about 95% done digging. The level space is 18’ wide and 16’ long and 3’ deep tapering to near level. The walls are about at a 45 degree angle.

The concrete pads were poured while I was in Alaska. They look great. Three 1,000 gallon tanks will go here for the house.

One 500 gallon tank will go here and will supply my motor home.

Another 500 gallon tank will go here and supply the garage and an outdoor kitchen when I build it.

Is your house currently propane heat or are you converting it to propane heat?
