A Project For Miss T

Post by BrokenolMarine » Fri May 10, 2019 9:56 am

Well...

Looks like there might be a new tag along project in the works, and it will be an interesting one. Drinking my coffee, I hear this:

"I know what you can make me.". :D
;)

She draws a box on a scrap of paper, and it turns out to be a stand up sewing box similar to a cradle. I ask if she wants cabinet grade maple plywood, but she grins... That walnut would be perfect. :D I had seen her looking at the stack of black walnut every time she goes into the woodshop. ;)

So... I told her to find the exact design / style she wants and then I will start on the rough sketches. This should be a nice ride. :D

I won't go that far. It will be a challenge. I'll either have to process a large slab of walnut from my stash, or do some jointer work from the black walnut stack I made from the logs I ran thru the bandsaw mill. It will be interesting, I am looking forward to the next couple weeks. :D
Miss T is searching for a couple pair of hinges on line now. :P

I may make the sides in a "rails and styles" design, just to have the opportunity to join them with mortises and tenons, and insert the bookmatched panels in the frames.

She has crocheted me three afghans already. A summer and winter weight for the recliner, and a mid weight for the wheelchair when we go out. It's always cold when we are in public buildings... And the circulation in my legs is poor when I sit for too long. She watches out for me. :D

If you tackle this one you may give me some ideas that might apply somewhat to a small project I need to get done.

I WILL be tackling it. The hinges are on order and I'll be starting in the next day or so. I will work every day I don't have another commitment, such as a VA appt, or that charity fishing tourney next Friday and Saturday.

Take it in stride for sure!
I personally have become a bit of a procrastinator, however,I know when I am in the right mind and don't jump in until I'm really motivated and into it.
If I push myself, I know I won't like the results. Wish I had your skills and patience.
I DO know that Miss T will love your gift whenever it is completed! 😊

The key to my successes is that I am willing to take a chance, try new ideas and see them fail. I'll back up a step and repeat, or change directions, and not get hurried. Eventually I reach the goal.
