Collecting toy trains
Re: Collecting toy trains
Especially like the train traveling around the curve through the pine trees (photo IMG_0382.JPG). Reminds me of many car drives I took going to/from the oceanfront in northwest OR.
Very nice scene you have set up, Thefile. Enjoyed your thread.

Ahhh...that explains it! Always a bit interesting to me, thx.Thefile wrote:Another one of my hobbies is my stereo, I have been an audiophile for many years. I had a CD Player that you were able to program the title of the CD, I wanted to program Thephile for one test disc but you were only able to use 7 letters so that is how I came up with Thefile.

Good Lord what a set up!!! My little guy is super into trains! He has his usual Thomas stuff but he also has his whittle shortline collection. By far his pride and joy are his g scale LGB collection. The crown jewel for him there is his complete circus train. He also has a g scale polar Express. He has more that I'm not entirely sure on.

Your son has some nice trains, a great hobby, he can spend many pleasent and safe hours with it. I guess you know it can get expensive.Dahliathemeh wrote:Good Lord what a set up!!! Re: Collecting toy trains
We have a museum over here the Illinois railroad museum. We are there 2/3 times a year. He owns it.

Re: Collecting toy trains
I have been at that museum a lot when I lived in Northern Illinois. Did you guys ride the train? I got to ride in the cab cause I knew one of the volunteers. Great fun!

Re: Collecting toy trains
I'm not a train expert so don't know the models and don't have any pictures but years ago they brought over a couple of steam engines and cars for the Washington Special Olympics. My best friend knew the guy in charge of security so in exchange staying up most of a night watching over a group of the athletes we got to work security on the more basic train on a trip from Wenatchee to Chelan (about 70 miles round trip).
Everyone with a security hat got to ride the fancy engine with the luxury cars back to Western WA, being the nice guy that I am, I gave my hat to my friend's wife so she could go. Kind of regretted it when they told me how neat the trip was.
