Pulled this 6" metal lathe out of a basement workshop. Near as I can tell it was manufactured in 1944. Bearings seem fine and true, have a manual coming and hope to get it into operation again. I love old tools.

You can still get parts for that machine from Atlas. I have one made in 1953. I use it almost every day in my repair work. I think yours might be a 9". It sure looks heavier than my 6".

They can tell you what you have by the serial # and when it was made. I've had great customer service from them through email.

Contacted them and they are emailing me a manual for no charge. Told me they can't tell me the age because the records were destroyed by a fire but agreed that is was probably from the forties and this is a 10 inch lathe.

I was guessing 9" but 10" is even better. You got a good find there once fixed up.

My buddy has a similar lathe. Nice pick up.

I've owned a Craftsman badged Atlas 101, 12-24 for going on 30 years. I love it to death and get a lot of work out of it.

I just found someone selling these VEVOR Milling Drilling Machine Worktable Cross Slide Table 4" X 7.3" Bench Table FOR $60.00 INCLUDING SHIPPING on Ebay. I just got it and I have to say, yes, it needs a little work, but even as is ... it's fantastic. I'm going to turn it into a Milling attachment for my lathe.

I love old cast iron tools also. Almost all of my tools are old cast iron. I found (!) a No. 18 inch Buffalo drill press laying on the New Jersey Turnpike a while back and I bought a 1935 15 inch Craftsman/Walker Turner dp (one year only) at a little auction here in Georgia for $25 not long ago.

On the right is the back end of my 12 inch lathe. The big grey thing is the Buffalo.

I have an old Craftsman lathe sitting in the corner of my basement. I think it’s a 109. This thread encourages me to dig it out and get it running again. Thanks for the information.
