World’s first fully electric RV

Post by JEBar » Mon Dec 17, 2018 9:03 am

The World’s first fully electric RV will debut in 2019 ===> https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/autos-h ... ar-BBQY7kJ <=== I can see a market for it in Europe where fuel is much more expensive and distances traveled are usually much shorter .... I don't see much of a market for it over here until they can drastically increase the distance it can cover between charges .... I did a search and found pretty much the same info but couldn't find any pricing info

Great for camping in the city, maybe Central Park....but I agree, pretty much useless out in the middle of nowhere.

but its range is limited to 85-125 miles per charge.
This right here eliminates it from about 95% of traditional 'camping' uses.
We sell the Winnebago 'Revel' which has as one of it's options a lithium-ion battery system (for utilities only) and has no LP appliances.
Time will tell on the practicality of this.

Range of 124 miles!? That's 62 miles out and 62 miles back! That won't get you out of city traffic in most metropolitan areas. And at least with a fossil fueled vehicle you can carry extra gas or diesel. Are they gonna' start making batteries that look like jerry cans?? Yeah, those will only weigh a few hundred pounds a piece. That thing is totally impractical. An RV is supposed to be used to "get away from it all" - this one comes with the requirement of having an AC outlet handy while you are "away from it all." LOL!!

You could always buy a couple of these to get an extra few miles out of the next camping trip. ;)

Seems like the RV industry has found a way to make a product that perfectly performs the task it was no-doubt designed to do....
….a way to keep the tree-hugging, eco-Nazis off their back by creating a way to "virtue-signal" their product.

That must be the reason, because it would be worse than useless for it's expected purpose.

Maybe Doc Brown can put in a flux-capacitor to help with the mileage....

Perfect for those who buy one, park it in the drive for company to sleep in, but never go anywhere in it.
