Winter camp (sleeping in the snow)

Post by Greyhawk » Sat Feb 22, 2020 12:36 pm

My daughters wanted to do an overnight winter camping trip in the bush, and they wanted to sleep under the stars. This weekend we had a warming trend (Highs in the thirties and lows in the teens, Fahrenheit) so off we went, with two sleds and a backpack of gear. Both girls had fun and want to do it again, so I will chalk it up to a success!

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I did the same trip when I was in my thirties, with my boys. One night it got down to -15 and I had no problem.... Now I'm in my fifties and it gets down in the teens above zero and I freeze my butt off! Not to mention how cotton pickin sore I was when I got up in the morning! But, I'd do it again, gets us all out in the wild and out from in front of the TV.... Not to mention the stars were just awesome and there was a bit of a meteor shower all night. (believe me I was awake for most of it, trying to get comfortable.)

That Duluth Pack looks to me like you are from Northern MN. Best packs out there.

That smile you captured in your "Camp 5" photo will be a great memory for you also, Hawk. Very clear to see that youngster bubbling with enjoyment! Looks like a great outing. Glad you all had the time together. Cool  8-)
